At this year's JEC World in Paris - the world's most important composites trade fair - flax and hemp were no longer unknown niche fibres. The composites industry is also under pressure to find environmentally friendly replacements for energy-intensive carbon and glass fibres. Flax and hemp in particular have emerged as clear favourites due to their extreme strength.
We also see clear potential for hemp in the composites sector and presented our hemp developments for composite components at the trade fair. Hemp can easily achieve the mechanical strength of glass fibres and would be an ideal basis for bio-based or recycling-optimised composites.
Hemp for Composites at the JEC World 2024
As a high-strength natural fibre, hemp has great potential for technical composites. For this reason, we exhibited at the JEC 2024.
