Flame Retardant Tapes

An important segment of Topp Textil are heat protection tapes, flame resistant and flame retardant tapes. Topp manufactures textile tapes that are exposed to increased temperatures on a made-to-order basis. Here, different fibre types such as PPS or meta-aramide are often used as a basis. Topp Textil produces flame-resistant tapes, for example, from glass fibre with different finishes and various designs and presentations up to self-adhesive coatings. The decisive factor for flame-retardant textile tapes is that the time of ignition is delayed by the property. These properties are required in many areas based on different requirements and test methods. For example, the home textile industry requires such tapes, especially in certain export markets. But also the field of personal protective equipment (PPE) often requires such tapes. Another large area of application for textile heat protection tapes and flame retardant tapes is the automotive and aviation industries.

Such textile tapes are manufactured at Topp according to the customer's requirement profiles either by selecting the type of fibre (for example polyester, Nomex, glass fibre filaments, cotton) or on the basis of the finish. The manufacturing process of the textile surface (for example knitted, flat woven or tubular fabric) is also defined accordingly on this basis. The internal quality control with the in-house laboratory at Topp Textil then checks the values complied with according to the specifications. Particularly in the flame-retardant and heat-fast cotton sector, Topp has a corresponding stock of different colours and finishes. The widths are then adapted according to the customer's wishes and manufactured to order.

The tapes can be folded or otherwise made up on request. The hardness of the fabric can also be selected by the customer. Generally, there is a choice of three different standard degrees of hardness: hard, medium and soft.
