Tunnel Tape

The different possibilities and technologies for manufacturing and making up textiles and small textile parts are the basis of the solution and innovation competence of the Topp group of companies. In close cooperation with customers, Topp Textil has developed a tubular tape for covering systems that incorporates a cord. The material to which this tape is attached can thus be easily pulled together.

The area in which such tube and tunnel tapes are used can vary greatly. The tubular tape and an inserted cord are mainly used for covers in the technical and home-technical field, which are to be fixed to an object. Seat fixings and cover systems through to polishing bonnets can be rationally fixed in this way. Customer-specific requirements of the materials are the prerequisite for optimal gathering on the objects here.

Frequently used materials are, for example, leather, microfibre, tricot and lambskin. Topp manufactures such tunnel tapes with a cutting accuracy of +/- 1 mm. The cords are then worked into the tapes and sewn. The cords have a corresponding elasticity so that the fabric can be gathered around the materials. The designs can also be folded or glued.

Topp Textil has also developed hose bands for cable harnesses and pneumatic hose systems. For efficient processing, Topp also supplies these tapes in cut-to-length form and with corresponding prefabricated punchings. So-called loop tapes also fall into the category of tunnel tapes. These are needed when folding down rear seats in cars or as handle elements.
